Punjab board removes Malala’s image from textbook
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has highlighted the necessity to pay attention to curriculum and teachers to curtail extremism in the country.
"If we don't pay attention to [the] curriculum and teachers, extremism will increase," the federal minister said while giving an interview to a local TV channel.
"Extremism is already high in Pakistan," he said.
While replying to a question regarding political parties he said,
"Every political party has some conformist voices that have a deleterious approach owing to the predominant syllabus being taught in the country," he said.

He also expressed concerns over Malala Yousufzai's picture being taken down from the Punjab textbook board's books. He said that the matter is under inquiry.
While criticizing the board, he said that those who are far away from education cannot decide the fate of students in Punjab.
He added that in past, world-class books taught in the top universities in the world have been banned in Punjab, which was strange and alarming.
He said that removing Malala’s picture from the textbook reflects the mindset of society.
