Peshawar University introduces first ever autism unit
An Autism Unit at the Department of Psychology, University of Peshawar, is inaugurated to counter the rapid growth of autistic children and provide them with competent therapy services. Vice-chancellor Dr. Muhammad Abid inaugurated the center.
The Department of Psychology has arranged a free psychological resources camp consisting of nicely designed stalls to illustrate mental disorders, including autism, trauma, speech and language disorder, anxiety disorder, and positive psychology.

Professor Dr. Muhammad Abid, the chief guest of the function, visited all the stalls and consulted trained therapists and psychologists on various psychological conditions.
It is worth mentioning that Peshawar University is the only university in the Government Sector in Pakistan that has an Autism Unit. The Chairperson of the Department of Psychology, Prof Dr. Irum Irshad, said that this unit would play an important role by delivering various interventions to help develop the social, learning, and behavioral skills needed for autistic children's recovery.
Dr. Irum Irshad said that the Department of Psychology provides psychotherapeutic services to students, faculty, and the rest of the population for a decade. We were frequently in need of an Autism Unit to put joy on the deprived parents to address the exponential growth of autistic children day by day.

Clinical psychology is conducted at the Department of Psychology, University of Peshawar, from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 P.M. Also, Dr. Irum Irshad urged parents of autistic children to contact the Autism Unit, Department of Psychology, the University of Peshawar, to receive excellent professional services.
