Omicron variant: Pakistani schools would not be closed, according to Shafqat Mehmood
According to the education minister, exams would be held on time. ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood has explicitly stated that schools will not be closed in Pakistan as a result of the development of the new COVID-19 variation, Omicron, in several countries.
"Schools will remain open and tests will be held as scheduled," Shafqat Mehmood said at the opening ceremony of the inter-boards sports gala in the federal capital.
The government does not want educational operations to be disrupted.
Shafqat Mahmood had stated a day before that the administration intended to continue its educational efforts.

The federal minister told the media in Lahore that he was unaware of the specifics of the new strain, but that there should be no disruption in education.
Exams, according to Shafqat Mehmood, would be held on schedule and with the full syllabus as decided by the education ministers.
In light of the haze in Punjab, the federal education minister also spoke about the holidays offered in educational institutions.
