Malala Visits Punjab CM Pervaiz Elahi
Former Federal Minister Moonis Elahi and Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi met with Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai on Wednesday morning. The discussion of Malala Fund activities in Pakistan, future strategies, and other projects was included in this meeting.
There was also a discussion about promoting education in the province, especially the STEAM program for girls.
Yousafzai praised CM Pervaiz Elahi's reforms in the education sector and hailed his education-friendly efforts.
While speaking with Malala Yousafzai, the Chief Minister announced that 25 thousand teachers would be inducted into vacant posts in Punjab's schools. According to the CM, corporal punishment will be banned in schools and madaris at the request of Malala. Inflicting physical punishment on female students in schools and madaris is unacceptable.
It has been confirmed that the government will implement the law relating to physical punishment in the current month, adding that it will be passed by the Punjab Assembly.
Through adopting the mother tongue as a source of education, the CM said teachers would be inducted for imparting Punjabi education at the primary level. There will be free transport for female students in South Punjab, and stipends will increase by 100 percent for female students.
Asar Malik and Malala Yousafzai will be invited to visit Lahore by CM Elahi. He applauded the work of the Malala Fund and invited them to visit the city's tourism sector.
In an interview with the BBC, Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai praised CM Pervaiz Elahi's education-friendly policies. According to her, the Chief Minister has done a tremendous amount of work in the field of education.
In her speech, she expressed pride in representing Pakistan before the world, and stated that no child should be kept out of school in Pakistan.
