KU starts vaccination of students at campus
Karachi University started a vaccination facility on Thursday at all departments to jab immunize thousands of students at the varsity, said the university official on Thursday.
The facility has been set up for the immunization of students at Karachi University Business School (KUBS) and will be expanded to other departments, institutes, and centers in the following days, said the spokesperson of KU in a statement.
While addressing the inauguration ceremony, the varsity’s interim Vice-Chancellor VC Professor Dr. Khalid Iraqi said that a mass vaccination program is initiated to curb the spread of coronavirus in Pakistan.

"If we want to resume our daily routine as it used to be before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, then we all must get vaccinations on a priority basis."
Director Health Karachi Dr Akram Sultan, District Health Officer East Dr Ashfaq, Dr Qadeer Muhammad Ali, Dr Akmal Waheed, Chairman KUBS Dr Danish Ahmed Siddiqui and other officials also attended the event.
Dr Iraqi commended the efforts of the provincial government for setting up a vaccination center at the Centre for Bioequivalence Studies and Clinical Research, the University of Karachi, to facilitate the staff, students and their families.
"I am happy to say that about 95% of teachers and administrative staff of the varsity have been vaccinated to date," the vice-chancellor said.
Meanwhile, Director Health Karachi Dr Akram Sultan stated that earlier one team was working at the university but now three teams have been deployed and more people have been assigned to reach the maximum numbers of immunization of students.

He stated that two teams will inoculate employees and students in the morning session while one team will be deployed for the evening session for the students. Female staff will be present in all teams, he added.
Dr Sultan further said that if obligatory, the health department would also deploy its mobile vaccination teams.
