Indian Student Poisoned for Good Grades

In Puducherry, India, the mother of a student who placed second in eighth grade poisoned and killed the class topper for outperforming her own daughter.

According to police officials, the woman poisoned the boy's cold drink, which led to him vomiting. The boy informed his family that the woman gave him a cold drink.

He was taken to the hospital as his condition worsened, but he was not able to be saved.

After the post-mortem report confirmed the poisoning, the girl's mother was arrested. In her statement, the arrested woman stated that her daughter was always pushed aside, so she got jealous and poisoned him.
