A student was murdered by his teacher in Rajasthan
In India's western state of Rajasthan, a nine-year-old Dalit boy was beaten to death by an upper-caste teacher at a private school.
Media reports say the license of the school where the child was studying, Saraswati Vidya Mandir, has been revoked and his last rites are being performed. A teacher beat the boy after he drank water from a clay pot (matka).
The family of the child treated the child in several hospitals after the school teacher's assault, but they were unable to save him.
Cheil Singh tortured nine-year-old Dalit student Inder Kumar Meghwal at Saraswati Vidyalaya School. He suffered ear and eye injuries as a result of the beating.
The child's family says he didn't know that Cheil Singh's matka was kept separately.
Inder Kumar was taken to several hospitals for treatment after this beating, but his condition did not improve. He was then taken in critical condition to Ahmedabad in Gujarat from Udaipur. Inder Kumar died during treatment after being admitted for two days. Three brothers preceded him in age.
Local and social media reports have blamed Saraswati Vidyalaya teacher Cheil Singh for the child's death.
Ustad Cheil Singh has been arrested following the filing of the FIR. When the accused was interrogated, he said the child had been slapped for mischief in the class. In the viral video, the student has an oxygen tube attached to his nose and his right eye appears swollen.
In the video, family members ask the student if he was slapped by Cheilji master. As a result, the student shakes his neck slightly. The student pointed to the back of his ear when his relatives asked where he was killed.
Police have registered a case against the accused teacher and arrested him on the complaint of the family. The family has demanded strict action against teacher Cheil Singh.
