Hazara University announces new dress code for students and staff members

Hazara University has released a comprehensive dress code for all students, which disallow girls from wearing "heavy makeup and jewelry" and boys from sporting a ponytail, a university notification.

Following the implementation of the current guidelines, female students are specifically not permitted to:

  • Wear jeans, Tights, and Tshirts
  • Wear short shirts with jeans or tights
  • Wear heavy makeup or jewelry
  • Carry heavy handbags

They are allowed to wear Shalwar Kameez, Abaya, and a Headscarf.

For male students, restrictions extend to:

  • Shorts, cutoff jeans, Skin-fitted jeans
  • Slippers
  • Earrings, Wrist chains
  • Long hair, ponytails, "unattractive beard cut."

They are allowed to wear:

  • Dress pants with dress shirts
  • Dress shoes and socks
  • Shalwar Kameez

The notice also contains instructions that staff members must meet.
