The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peshawar reported that the HEC had decided to resume the programs for the next two years. He said students will now have no problem with access to these programs until 2022.
Last year, the HEC released guidelines to all educational institutions to abandon two-year bachelor's degree programs because any such programs pursued after the academic year 2018 would not be recognized.

In this regard, the Commission also wrote a letter to both of the country's public and private sector degree-awarding institutions.
"It has been observed with serious concerns that universities are still offering these programs, degree awarding institutes (DAIs), and their affiliated colleges," read the notice released by the Commission.
