According to the reports, the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Punjab, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir have already passed legislation making the Holy Quran mandatory in their school curriculum. Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan, meanwhile, have given notifications for the introduction of the Single National Curriculum (SNC), which requires the compulsory teaching of the Holy Quran in grades 1 through 5.
As part of the SNC, schools in Islamabad, KPK, and Punjab's Bahawalpur Division will be required to teach the Holy Quran.
