“The English-medium [system] progressed in such a way that there was less stress on education and more importance on creating ‘desi vilayati’ (local foreigners). The approaches and mental slavery of another culture were absorbed.”
Reminiscing his academic days, Khan said that when he went to England for higher education, he felt like “I was made an English public-school boy and not a Pakistani. I was distanced from my culture and my religion while being in Pakistan.”
He said that we had become servants of an alien culture, whereas the government-owned schools gave us the best intellectuals in the past.
