Education Sector Gets a Fraction of the Sindh Budget
In its budgetary plan for the year 2022-23, the Sindh government has set aside only 2% of the overall budget outlay of Rs 1.7 trillion, or Rs 34.217 billion, for education development.
According to budget records, the province government has set up Rs. 100 million for the conversion of a primary school into an elementary school with auxiliary facilities.
The government plans to invest Rs 1 billion to build Public Sector University campuses in Sindh's Korangi, Karachi West, Keamari, Malir, Tando Mohammad Khan, Tando Allah Yar, and Sujawal districts.
In Sukkur, Rs 100 million has been set aside for the establishment of Comprehensive High Schools (10 units), while the same amount has been set aside for the establishment of Comprehensive High Schools in other districts of the province.

The provincial government has set aside Rs 27 million to build a science museum in Divisional Headquarter. A total of Rs 111 million has been set aside for the construction of a facility for the Government Special Education and Rehabilitation Center of Excellence Autism Center in Larkana.
The government has also suggested allocating Rs 200 million to the new People University of Medical and Health Science for Women Nawabshah campus for the development of residential flats.
A building for Government boys’ higher secondary school Saeed Khan Leghari will be constructed with Rs 16.5 million.
The chief minister of Sindh stated in his budget speech that the Universities and Boards Department will establish the country's first fully integrated Science and Technology Park on 1.3 acres of land within the grounds of NED University of Science and Technology, Karachi Campus, in a public-private partnership model at a cost of Rs. 1 billion.
The Universities and Boards Department has also advocated solarizing the public sector universities in order to save energy and money for the 29 institutions. The department will also create the "Institute of Pharmacy Liaquat University of Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro," which will produce 80 pharmacists annually.
