Education institutions closed in Twin cities due to TPL rally
Following the banned Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLPprotest )'s rally from Lahore to Islamabad, traffic on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road and railway service to and from Lahore were prohibited, thus cutting Rawalpindi and Islamabad off from the rest of the country.
"All trains between Rawalpindi and Lahore have ceased operations due to the closure of the main bridge over the Jhelum River," a senior Pakistan Railways official stated.
To prevent the TLP rally from going to Islamabad, the GT Road was already closed at Jhelum.
Containers obstructed Murree Road and its sliproads, which were roped off by police. The road restrictions have impacted Civil Lines, Jhanda Chichi, Chaklala Scheme-III, Garibabad, and other areas.
Markets, gas stations, and CNG stations in the region were also shuttered.
