Cambridge exams: Shafqat hopes the positive decision will come soon

Despite the protest from students against the in-person Cambridge exams amid rising coronavirus cases, Cambridge International examination began today (Monday) with the strict compliance of coronavirus standard operating procedures across the country.

Taking to Twitter, the Federal Education Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood said that these are the tough times and difficult decisions have been made keeping the student’s best interest in view.

"British Council is committed to strict implementation of SOPs and we will monitor them closely. Good Luck!" he said in a tweet

According to sources, the arrangements inside examination halls have been prepared according to the recommended SOPs. Moreover, the examination halls will be sanitized after every two sessions.

A day before, the education minister said in a tweet that the safety precautions are in place by the authorities to assure the safety of the students.

Parents and students are also given an option of switching to Oct/Nov cycle without any additional fees.

While attaching the document issued by Cambridge, he asked the parents and students to carefully go through it. "It has answers to different scenarios which facilitate students," he added.

However, while giving an update about A Level students, he said “"As regards AS students, I have asked Cambridge to reconsider the 13 month condition for taking remaining papers considering the extraordinary situation."

He said that he is hopeful that a positive decision in this regard will come soon.
