According to a report issued at an event cohosted by Google and the Pakistan Software Housed Association (P@SHA), Pakistan's digital transformation might produce up to Rs 9.7 trillion in annual economic value by 2030 if properly utilised.

AlphaBeta, a business specialising in economic strategy, authored the research. Unlocking Pakistan's Digital Potential: Economic Opportunities of Digital Transformation and Google's Contribution is the title of the report. One major point is that, as one of the world's youngest countries (approximately 60% of the population is between the ages of 15 and 29), Pakistan must improve its citizens' digital skills.

At the gathering, President Dr. Arif Alvi emphasised this point. Because of Pakistan's large youth population, he claimed he was a firm believer in the country's digital potential: Sixty-five percent of Pakistanis are between the ages of 26 and 40.

The ministry of education and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) are aiming to improve the capabilities of IT graduates while also considering their potential. To expand the number of IT university graduates, the president stated that the government is considering implementing a two-year associate degree programme.

He stressed the significance of digital technologies in combating global threats like the Coronavirus.

Pakistan's government already had a solid IT infrastructure in place to manage the people, which helped.

The report's originator and managing director, Fraser Thomson, believes that IT and IT-enabled industries have the potential to outperform agriculture and manufacturing in terms of exports.
