According to the Director General of Private Institutions Sindh, a private school has been directed to return the amount it collected as an annual fee to the parents.

As a result of a complaint by parents, a private school in Gulistan-e-Jauhar was barred from charging parents annual fees.

Students were charged Rs. 5,000 as annual fees every six months by the school, according to the parents' complaint.

A school cannot charge parents annual fees or any other fees without permission from the relevant authorities, according to the director general.

Recently, the Sindh government declared that schools that forced parents to buy textbooks, stationery, and uniforms from them or specific shops only were illegal, and restricted the practice, as well as instructed schools not to charge parents extra for dresses or food items on events such as color day, flower day, mother's day, or music day.

Parents and teachers praised the government's decision, expressing hope that the new rules would also be implemented practically, instead of just on paper.
