Winter Vacations in Sindh and KPK are officially over
Following the winter break, Sindh and Karachi's educational institutions have resumed. The Ministry of Education announced winter holidays from December 21st to December 31st.
As announced by the Sindh Education Department, all schools and colleges in Sindh opened on Monday, January 2nd, while many private schools will open on Wednesday, January 4th.
On the first day of school, attendance in various schools was much lower than normal, while attendance in government schools was less than 50%. Parents in Karachi fear that their children may fall sick from the cold, as it has not yet hit the metropolis.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's educational institutions have also reopened after winter vacation. Across the province, all primary schools were closed on Monday.
Primary schools are closed for one day every month on the 1st due to teacher training. Since the 1st of January falls on a Sunday, all primary schools were closed on the 2nd.
Rather than extending winter vacations, the Education Department has reduced school attendance hours. As of January 31st, primary schools will be open from 9:15am to 1:30pm, and higher secondary schools from 9am to 2:30pm.
