UET and UHS to take online entry exam

During the Coronavirus pandemic, the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) and the University of Health Sciences (UHS) have agreed to formulate a specific strategy for organizing online entrance exams in medical institutions across Punjab.

The decision was taken at a meeting between Vice-Chancellor UET, Prof. Syed Mansoor Sarwar, and Prof. Javed Akram, Vice-Chancellor UHS. Registrar UHS, Dr. Asad Zaheer, Controller Examination, Dr. Saqib Mahmood, and senior staff and faculty members were also in the meeting.

Prof. Sarwar disclosed that this year UET in partnership with Virtual University, organized the online ECAT entrance exam for admissions.

About 33,000 candidates will conduct the online admission test in various shifts in computer laboratories between 3 and 6 August. Prof. Sarwar added that candidates would be able to participate in a mock exam by the end of July.

Vice-Chancellor UET said there would be strict observance of social distancing SOPs during the ECAT entry test. After being checked for Coronavirus's signs, students and staff members be allowed to access the test centers.

Vice-Chancellor UHS said medical institutions are considering the MDCAT exam as optional for this year, considering the situation regarding Coronavirus.

However, the Government will make the final decision in this regard after bringing all federal and provincial stakeholders.

Prof. Akram said there were supposed to be about 80,000 candidates taking the MDCAT exam this year before the Coronavirus outbreak. He directed the Examination Controller UHS to formulate a plan with UET to make the testing procedure possible in September.
