SNC will be formally implemented in middle schools starting August 2022
The federal government has approved the Single National Curriculum (SNC) for students in grades VI to VIII, which will be formally announced today (Friday).
Dr. Maryam Chughtai, Director of the National Curriculum Council (NCC), revealed this in an interview with Radio Pakistan.
"The new Single National Curriculum will be introduced in the following phase from August this year," she stated, referencing Prime Minister Imran Khan's vision.
Dr. Chughtai went on to say that the SNC is built on compulsory topics like Math, Science, Computer, and English to ensure that all children receive a same level of concepts and instruction.
Single National Curriculum
In August 2021, Prime Minister Imran Khan introduced the first phase of the SNC, which will cover Pre-I (kindergarten) through grade V, with the goal of 'eliminating educational disparities' in the country.
The SNC, which was developed by the Ministry of Federal Education's National Curriculum Council (NCC) in partnership with all of the federating units' education departments, intends to bring all of the country's youngsters under the cover of a uniform curriculum.
The government plans to implement the second part of the uniform curriculum, for grades VI, VII, and VIII, in August 2022, and the third phase, for grades IX through XII, in August 2023, after the first phase is completed.
