Sindh's Provincial Education Minister met with EU Ambassador
On November 29th there was a meeting between Sindh’s Education Minister, Syed Sardar Ali Shah and EU’s Ambassador, Dr. Riina Kionka.
Additionally, Mr. Ghulam Akbar Laghari, Secretary of School Education and Literacy Department Sindh, and Mr. Sven Rieusich, Acting Head of European Union Delegation, were present.

During the meeting, issues of mutual interest were discussed. The Sindh Education Minister spoke about the challenges faced after the floods and the restoration of flood-affected schools. As a result of flooding, 2.5 million children have been deprived of education.
As a result of rain and flooding in Sindh, nine thousand schools have been completely destroyed. Five thousand schools offered shelter to flood victims. In order to maintain the education of children, temporary learning centers have been established.
In addition to being physically affected by floods, children are also psychologically affected. Getting an education can help children maintain their psychological health. A rehabilitation process is currently underway for the schools. Efforts are being made to increase enrollment.
The number of primary schools in Sindh is 35,000, while the number of secondary schools is more than 4,400. In addition to primary education, children should continue to receive an education. As a result of the floods after the pandemic, children's education has been severely affected.

It has been estimated that more than fifty thousand teachers have been recruited impartially in order to fill the shortage.
The goal is to recruit Fine Arts and Music teachers to enhance children's creativity. On this occasion, the Ambassador of the Union, Dr. Riina Kionka, assured all support to restore education in Sindh. In her remarks, Dr. Riina Kionka commended Sindh for rehiring music teachers. Sindh schools have been granted 12.6 million Euros for rehabilitation by the European Union.
Moreover, Dr. Riina Kionka expressed an interest in Sindhi music. She visited the Culture Department's Folk Studio. The Provincial Minister of Education presented the EU ambassador with books and cultural gifts.
