Sindh opposes 5-days a week in-person school

After a long break, all educational institutions in Pakistan have resumed regular classes from today (Monday), except Sindh.

Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood had announced last week that all schools and colleges across the country shall resume to five days a week physical classes from March 1.

The decision was to be applied to all educational institutions in the country.

According to reports, however, the attendance in the schools and colleges in Punjab remained 50 percent given the health hazards and the coronavirus situation in the country.

Last week, the Minister for Education in Sindh, Saeed Ghani had opposed the decision of the federal government to resume five days a week physical classes from March 1 and had announced that it has “created confusion among students.”

He said that schools will only allow 50% attendance, asserting that regular classes cannot be resumed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
