QAU students demand exams to finish courses

Students of one of the top-rated varsities in the federal capital have asked its administration to chart a pathway to hold their annual examinations without any further delay so that they can complete the requirements for their respective course.

Final year students of Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) studying Bachelors of Arts, Sciences (BSc) and Commerce (BCom) of have demanded that the varsity administration hold the remaining examinations without wasting any more time.

The university had conducted some examinations at its Islamabad campus from September 16, immediately after educational institutions had reopened following a drop in cases after the first wave of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

However, with a second wave of Covid-19 gripping the country and with active cases reported in affiliated colleges, the varsity has once again suspended all examinations.

The academic had resumed twice but was suspended again due to concerns that the virus could spiral out of control, leaving students in limbo.

Students of the varsity have reached out to the Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood, urging him to intervene in the matter and instruct the QAU administration to hold the remaining exams for those studying in the final-year batches BA/BSc and BCom programmes.

“We are suffering as our education has come to an abrupt halt,” a BA student lamented, adding, “we need to move on to the next level of our studies.”
