Punjab to announce summer vacation in two weeks
The statement of Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas regarding summer vacation came as a relief in the province as with the rise in mercury students and teachers continue to bear the sweltering heat wave.
While speaking at a press conference in Lahore on Friday said that the government plans to announce summer vacation within two weeks.
Minister said that the government is aware of the condition that the students are in because of the severe weather.

“In case of an unusual situation, the government will act consequently,” he said, and added that the government has made alterations in timings for all the keeping in view the harsh weather conditions.
“From Monday, schools will open from 700 am to 11:30 am due to the ongoing heatwave.”
A number of students in Islamabad, Lahore, and Sialkot had collapsed due to the heat, and some struck by a heatstroke were rushed to the hospital last week. The situation pushed the government to alter school timings in the region.
“Let them give exams and we will give them vacations. It is unjust to promote students without examinations for two consecutive years,” Raas added.

He said that the syllabus had been abridged to amend the educational damages that the students had experienced due to the closure of schools amidst the third wave of coronavirus pandemic. Additionally, he said that the examinations will only be for elective subjects.
