PTI would fight to protect a pre-partition school in Dalmia

Sindh Assembly opposition leader Haleem Adil Sheikh said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will fight an accused attempt by the provincial government's competent ministries to seize the land of a pre-Partition school worth billions of dollars in the Dalmia region of Karachi.

The Manik Government Boys Secondary School Dalmia, founded in 1933 by Ram Krishan Dalmia, has been offering education to the citizens of the town for decades.

Locals claim that the property of the abandoned cement factory was granted to the Kolachi Cooperative Housing Society in 1993, which then sold the ground on which the school building now stands.

Following concerns from locals, Sheikh and PTI MPA Arsalan Taj paid a visit to the school and inspected various areas of the structure. They also spoke with the school's professors and pupils, who informed them that they were unanimously opposed to the intended relocation of the educational institution.

Sheikh told the residents that the 90-year-old school is a historical asset that cannot be removed, but that the provincial government, led by Murad Ali Shah, is aiming to dismantle a historical building.

Shiekh stated that Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah and Education Secretary Akbar Laghari were also involved in the illicit billion-dollar agreement. He further alleged that on Sunday, Laghari paid a visit to the institution.
