President Arif Alvi Offers Resources to Educate Afghan Students Online

The Virtual University of Pakistan and Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) have both reiterated President Dr. Arif Alvi's offer to Pakistan to give virtual and online educational resources to Afghan students (VUP). The offer was made after the Afghan minister of education told the president during a visit that higher education in Afghanistan was in terrible shape.

After learning that Mufti Sahib would be visiting Afghanistan to meet with the government, the president spoke with Mufti Taqi Usmani. He explained that because Afghanistan does not have widespread internet access, the educational materials from AIOU and VUP can initially be distributed to Afghan students via its television network.

According to the president, Pakistan's state and federal governments support giving women access to the same educational possibilities as its male citizens. Iqra is a universal Muslim practise that is gender neutral. He continued by saying that, in consideration of Afghanistan's unique sociopolitical issues, women might receive an education by making special arrangements as considered necessary and as previously promised by the country's current government.

Additionally, he pointed out that if Afghanistan was taking steps to educate its female population in accordance with its own preferences, then this extensive initiative needed to be properly publicised to the rest of the world through all media channels and communication tools in order to allay their concerns.

During his meetings with the Afghan ambassador, Afghan counsel generals, and other Afghan government leaders, directly or indirectly through his interactions with them on various occasions, the president also conveyed the Pakistani government's offers to provide online and virtual education facilities to Afghanistan.

According to President Alvi, without developing their own human resource, Pakistan cannot achieve the peace and development that they desire for Afghanistan.
