Pak-Turk Maarif briefs about the distance learning initiative

Turkish Maarif Foundation paid a visit to Education Minister Punjab Dr. Murad Raas on Saturday to brief about the Pak-Turk Maarif distance learning initiative.

“Pak-Turk Maarif provides extensive e-learning facilities to ensure continuity in education during Covid-19”, said Mr. Harun, the Country Director TMF while briefing to the session.

According to a social media post by PTM, Dr. Raas welcomed the distance learning initiative by PTM and assured his and his government’s full support and cooperation for the better and improved learning of the students.

According to earlier reports, Pak-Turk Maarif International schools and colleges have resumed online education from June 1 in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

The updated infrastructure was set up by the PTM in a short period of time amid lockdown situation. According to a press release, PTM has introduced a rich learning environment which is different from the traditional classroom education. An inclusive framework is introduced to deliver online lectures with and increased number of lessons and live classes.

The open Blackboard LMS/TMF Rooms is used as an interface for the first phase of remote classes and has been easily accepted by the students.

Meanwhile, a number of private schools in Pakistan are struggling to cope up with the use of new technology in the classrooms.

Earlier, the President of the All Pakistan Schools Federation Kashif Mirza in his address rejected the government decision to extend the closure of educational institutions until July 15. He said that while more than 90 percent schools are running on rented buildings, the salaries of the teachers are also fixed. Mirza demanded the re-opening of schools on urgent basis.
