Islamabad High Court stopped societies from collecting tax on private schools
In response to the appeal of the All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association, Justice Amir Farooq Kayani issued an injunction and prohibited private educational institutions from harassing students.
The Islamabad High Court has issued an injunction on the appeal of the All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association against the maintenance and other professional bills of private educational institutions in various societies of the federal capital, while directing the relevant authorities not to harass the private educational institutions and let them work until a decision is reached.
There is evidence that private educational institutions established in a number of newly formed housing societies in the twin cities, as well as the federal capital, were being charged heavy fines and expenses for maintenance and other professional taxes, which All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association appealed to the Islamabad High Court.
Amir Farooq Kayani, a judge of the Islamabad High Court, issued an injunction yesterday. The court has directed the concerned authorities that this case will be heard together with the non-conforming case which is already going on, so that private educational institutions established in the said societies will not be harassed until the final decision of the case is reached.
