Imran Khan’s Namal University land has been seized
The Punjab government has chosen to withdraw the notification for the land acquisition of 6,500 Kanal in Mianwali for Imran Khan's Namal University, putting the futures of thousands of students in jeopardy.
At a news conference in Lahore on Tuesday, PML-N leader Ataullah Tarar stated that Imran Khan bought the property for the university without paying the villagers the land rent.
Tarar also claimed that the land was bought for personal gain, and that the former premier abused his office in the process.
A PTI official, however, refuted the charge, claiming that the land for the varsity was purchased in 2005-06, when Imran Khan was not in power.
Imran Khan, according to Tarar, was born in Mianwali and hence obtained this lakefront estate for personal use, adding that Khan never reported his source of income, either domestically or internationally.
According to reports, the provincial government has also asked the DC Mianwali to file a FIR in the Namal University land purchase matter against the PTI Chairman.
In response to a question about the Supreme Court's judgement on dissident lawmakers' votes, Tarar stated that the verdict will have no affect on the Punjab government.
