The Higher Education commission of Pakistan has announced enrollment deadline for Law Graduate Assessment Test (Law-GAT) via an official Twitter account. The registration can be done online before June 30, 2020.
According to the brochure posted by HEC, person having a bachelor’s degree in Law or equivalent recognized by HEC/PBC are eligible to apply. The test will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and the test date will be communicated through the official website. Applicants who register through HEC’s online registration process will download their Roll Number Slip through a website a week before the test date. Candidates will be required to provide valid email/mobile number while filling an online application. However, a print of Roll Number slip and original CNIC will be required to enter in test center.
In 2018, the Supreme Court had directed restoration of the Law Graduate Assessment Test (Law-GAT). “The objective of the Assessment Test is to ensure proper scrutiny and evaluation of a law graduate desirous to join the legal profession for practicing law”, stated the document by HEC.
A law graduate will only become eligible to apply to a Bar Council for enrollment as an Advocate if he/she qualifies the Assessment, the document added.
