HEC announces scholarships for Baloch students

Islamabad: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has welcomed Baloch students to enroll for LLB, LLM, and Ph.D. scholarships to study at local and international universities.

Students with a Balochistan domicile or regional certification may apply for scholarships to pursue Indigenous LLB (5 years), Indigenous LLM, International LLM, and International Ph.D. studies, according to a notification released in this regard.

Students who meet the requirements for a particular category may apply online through HEC's e-portal (hec.gov.pk).

According to the announcement, candidates must score at least 50 percent on the aptitude test (Accumulative Test Score). Furthermore, the legal age limit for applying to LLB programs is 25, 30 for LLM programs, and 35 for Ph.D. programs.

Applicants for LLB studies must have completed 12 years of education and earned at least a 50% in the intermediate or similar examination.

Candidates for LLM and Ph.D. studies must have received a bachelor's degree from an HEC-recognized, degree-awarding college with at least a 50% score in the bachelor's program.

According to the announcement, 15 to 20% of the scholarships are reserved for the children of the August 2016 Quetta attack victims.

Aside from that, the announcement said that applicants who are already employed should be employed in a legal-related sector. Such students may be asked to have a letter of no objection (NOC) and request research leave from their respective organizations.

After being selected for an international scholarship, applicants must have letters of acceptance from one of the top 500 universities in the QS Ranking.
