Federal government teachers expect Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to address their concerns promptly
The Federal Government Teachers Association (FGTA) has asked that the new administration address long awaited issues as soon as possible.
The President of the FGTA, Malik Ameer Khan, issued a statement on Tuesday congratulating newly-elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his appointment and expressing hope that the new government will ensure the application of the 12-year-old hierarchical formula.
"We expect that the new administration will address the teacher shortage," he said, noting that the office of SST has remained vacant for the past 12 years.
The Finance Division had approved it before the previous government was removed, according to Malik Ameer Khan, but it has yet to be implemented.
He requested Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to direct the Establishment Division to release a four-tier formula announcement for the benefit of the teaching community.
Another demand of government teachers is that the teaching and non-teaching staff's education allowance, as well as their health allowance, be at least equivalent to their basic pay.
