At least 20 people have been killed in a school shooting in Texas
At least 20 people, including 18 students, have been killed in a school shooting in the US state of Texas.
According to the foreign news agency, an 18-year-old boy opened fire indiscriminately at an elementary school in the US state of Texas, killing innocent people. Several students were severely injured and taken to hospital for medical treatment.
The victims included children between the ages of 7 and 10 in the second to fourth grades. The 18-year-old assailant was killed in the police retaliation. The assailant was identified as Salvador Ramos, a resident of Yovaldi and a student at a local school.
According to the initial police investigation, Ramos attacked the school alone while an investigation is underway. Texas Governor Greg Abbott confirmed the shooting at the elementary school and expressed deep sorrow.
On the other hand, law enforcement sources say that Salvador Ramos also shot his grandmother before going to school. State Senator Roland Gutierrez said Ramos' grandmother had been airlifted to San Antonio, according to Texas Rangers.
