First job interviews can be quite unnerving, but, with Campus Guru here to guide you along the way, you are sure to land that dream job! With a quick breakdown of the best way to approach your interview, we’re here to help. A week before the scheduled interview, get down to research all you possibly can about the company, the position, the potential for growth, and the people conducting your interview. The more informed you are on these aspects during the interview, the more likely you are to impress the people assessing you! Four days before the interview is a good time to practice potential questions, sit with a friend, and ask them to interview you. Be well prepared for the following questions:
1. Why do you want this job?
2. What will you bring to the company?
3. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
4. Do you have any questions about the company?
Pro tip! Always ask a question towards the end of the interview. Candidates who ask questions often stand out more in comparison to those who don’t. Be sure to get your clothes ready a day before the interview, a rushed morning on the interview day may make you unnecessarily anxious. Choose an outfit that you feel both comfortable and confident in! Wake up early on the day of the interview and arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled time. Take deep breaths to calm your nerves and walk in with a self-assured and confident smile. A day after the interview, send an email thanking the company/interviewers for their time and ask for feedback. Remember, never shy away from interviews! No matter good or bad, they always help refine your professional persona.
