Violence Breaks Out at IBA Test Pass Protest

Several IBA and NTS test pass candidates from Sindh, including Shahr Quaid, protested when they did not receive their appointment letters, and the police brutally tortured the protesters.

As reported by Express News, candidates removed barriers in order to enter the red zone, but were detained by police.

There are continuous protests outside the Karachi Press Club by IBA test pass teachers demanding names for the appointments. Among those protesting were NTS pass candidates for junior elementary school teachers in 2013, primary school and high school teachers, and IBA qualified candidates in 2021.

While the candidates, who had set up a protest camp at the Karachi Press Club, once again advanced towards the Chief Minister's House. However, the police tried to stop them by putting up barriers, but then resorting to violence, beating and detaining several protestors.

Candidates who passed the IBA test in 2021 said that the Sindh government has issued offer letters to people of their choice, but they have not yet received any.

Teachers from different districts of Sindh who have scored 33 to 39 marks say that despite passing the test, they are being deprived of jobs. Therefore, they practice peaceful protests for their demands. No contact has been made by the Sindh Education Department so far.

The protesters said that a uniform policy should be developed for NTS and IBA and that offer orders should be issued to us. Candidates have announced to continue their protest at the strike camp at Karachi Press Club for offer letters.
