UoP students threaten to boycott classes against raise in fees

University of Peshawar students have denied the rise in tuition fees and other miscellaneous charges.

The UoP has also been advised that if it does not reverse its decision to raise all fees, it will face resistance in the form of strikes and a complete boycott of classes.

Syed Ziauddin, President of the People's Student Federation at the UoP, recently spoke with reporters in a public session about his reservations about the university's charges rising despite the extreme COVID-19 situation in the Northern Province.

The federation claims that rather than offering relief to its students and staff at a time of widespread healthcare instability, the university is raising tuition, hostel, and utility fees regardless of the consequences.

Instead of putting pressure on its students, Ziauddin believes the UoP should handle its own finances. Although the government had provided the UoP with many bailout packages, its administration had not restored stability.
