QUETTA: On Monday, Unicef's Country Chief Aida Girma and her team made a special trip to the Wahdat Colony's Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) Centre and interacted with students. She also went to the computer lab at the centre.

Unicef Balochistan's Education Specialist Palwasha Jalalzai briefed the team on ALP centres on this occasion.

She said the centres had been established in different areas of Balochistan in conjunction with Unicef and the Balochistan Education Department, where school dropouts and children from low-income households could receive free education.

Ms Girma, who spoke at the event, said that Unicef was trying to promote education in Balochistan, and that the development and running of ALP centres made education accessible to all children. She commended ALP members for offering contemporary education to children in detention centres.
