The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) plans to lay off more than 13,400 of its employees, 70% of its total staff – which also hints that President Donald Trump expects to curb the student stream of migrants into the US in the coming days.

The layoffs are intended due to the trickle-down effect by decreased petition fees, which is the only income generation channel for USCIS.
