Single national curriculum will enhance education in Pakistan, Shafqat Mehmood
Islamabad: Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood hopes that the government's new single national curriculum will boost students' education quality across the country.
The minister talked on the "News W!se" Dawn News show. He discussed questions regarding the government's single national curriculum, acknowledging how better educational opportunities were benefited by an elite class relative to madrassah students and those who were not granted equal opportunities.

"First of all, our syllabus can be compared with that of any other syllabus around the world," he said. "We have prepared it keeping in mind modern standards [of education]," added Shafqat Mehmood.
He regretted how a "certain class" felt that only Cambridge and Oxford knew what expectations of education were and how they should be improved.
When nudged to clarify how the latest syllabus would enhance educational standards, Shafqat said that teacher training would improve, and distance learning will be improved.
"The kids studying in madrassahs and those studying in elite schools will have the same educational standards," "And those standards will be higher, not lower."
