Sindh seals six schools in Malir after principals tested positive of COVID-19

The Sindh School Education & Literacy Department on Wednesday sealed six government schools in the Malir district due Coronavirus detected in the staff.

The schools that were sent an order to close down by the Education department are Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Konkar; Government Boys Secondary School, Model Haqqani Campus; Government Girls Secondary School, Haji Saeen Rakhio Campus; Government Girls Lower Secondary School, Konkar; Government Boys Secondary School, Jan Muhammad Ahmedani and Government Boys Secondary School, Radho Jokhio.

The notification was issued by the Malir district officer stated that the schools had to be sealed as the heads and principals of the schools were tested positive of the Coronavirus.

The notification further directed the schools to follow standard operation procedures and guidelines issued by the Ministry of National Health Services Regulations & Coordination in relation with the novel Coronavirus.

“The classrooms, staff rooms and other facilities used by the infected persons are to be closed for a minimum of five days, with suggested procedures of disinfection to be carried out on the premises,” states the notification.

All staff members who came directly in contact with the infected staff were directed to self-isolate for five days, the document read.

According to the notification, the schools are likely to re-open on November 1 after administration ensures all the SOPs are applied and followed on the school premises.
