Pre-Medical students can now enroll for computing programs

National Computing Education and Accreditation Council (NCEAC) has officially agreed to allow pre-medical students to enroll in BS Computer Programs.

A few months ago, Dr. Qasim Sheikh of Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University posed this problem before NCEAC. According to Dr. Qasim Sheikh, computing education has an extensive reach in medicine and other related disciplines in today's world. Dr. Sheikh argued that the existing system does not require a large number of highly talented students who do not get accepted to MBBS or BDS to enroll in any computing program.

After weeks of considering, NCEAC recently allowed students with a pre-medical background to get admission into BS Computing Programs.

NCEAC has planned to launch 2 more pre-qualification courses in mathematics. In their daily studies, students would be able to take those courses along with other computing courses. The results of these courses will be documented in their transcripts.

Chairperson NCEAC, Dr. Ayub Alvi said that the decision would encourage more intellectual students to enter into computing sector, enabling Pakistan to advance as an information economy and become the world's next IT destination.
