‘Nothing left to teach students’
Teachers remain busy marking assessment papers of students promoted to next grades.
The teaching process in the federal schools has come to a standstill as teachers remain busy marking assessment papers of students who are to be promoted to the next grades.
Educators lamented on Wednesday that they spend most of the time checking papers while there is nothing left to teach after the completion of the syllabus until the results are announced.
Students of federal government institutions have not been given summer vacations like other provinces.
They are still going to school from 7 am to 11 am while teachers are busy checking assessments and the new syllabus cannot be taught until the students are promoted to the next grades.
Teachers speaking to The Express Tribune said the students are being called to schools unreasonably. They maintained that the pupils have given final tests and the promotions can only be announced after assessing them.

On the other hand, parents have demanded the government to declare summer vacations in federal government institutions just as the other provinces, lamenting that they have to pick and drop their children at schools in the hot weather.
Upon being contacted, Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) Director General (DG) Dr Ikram Malik said that no annual examinations have been conducted in schools. He said that the papers were just assessments for which results would be used to gauge whether the students would be able to academically adjust in the next grade.
The DG claimed that the teaching process is under way in all educational institutions and asked to point out schools where it is not happening.
