Khalid Raza, Deputy Director of Private Schools Systems, killed
Syed Khalid Raza, the deputy director of Dar-e-Arqam Schools and vice chairman of the Federation of Private Schools, was shot dead in Block 7 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Multimedia reports indicate that two armed men on motorcycles shot and killed Syed Khalid Raza in Gulistan-e-Jauhar; it is suspected that the incident was the result of a targeted attack.
Safdar Mashwani, the SHO of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, dismissed the possibility of a street crime, saying that the police had found no evidence suggesting the victim had been mugged, as his belongings were found on him.
Khalid Raza was the Vice Chairman of the Federation of Private Schools.
APSMA Chairman Syed Tariq Shah said schools would remain open, as per the regular schedule, and Surah Fatiha will be recited in school assemblies.
Syed Wali Warsi, chairman of the All Pakistan Private Schools Association, and Shahryar Ali, general secretary, mourned Mr. Raza's murder. They stated that the criminals should be caught and punished as soon as possible.
In addition, they demanded that schools be issued arms licenses immediately.
Syed Murad Ali Shah, the Chief Minister and Kamran Tessori, the Governor of Sindh, condemned the incident as well. Their request was for the city police chief to prepare a detailed report about the incident.
