Karachi University teachers are boycotting classes starting Monday

Teachers at Karachi University have announced an indefinite boycott of classes until a selection board is held.

Mureed Rahimo, the University and Boards Secretary, postponed the selection board meeting without prior permission. There had been a call for the appointment of associate professors to the board.

Despite repeated protests from the Sindh teachers association, the Sindh government has failed to take action on the issue of the secretary board and universities.

A teacher's union official told The Express Tribune that classes and examinations at the varsity would remain postponed.

The protest will continue until both Mureed Rahimo and the selection board are recalled and transfers are made, according to Qadr.

Recently, a brand-new academic session began at the university, and the teachers' union protest coincided with classes finally beginning after long disruptions previously caused by the global pandemic.
