Jamat Islami asks the government to improve funding for education sector
ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chairman Sirajul Haq requested on Wednesday that the government enhance the education sector budget by 5%, eliminate corruption in the sector, and lower educational institution costs. He claimed that our government's education budget for the current fiscal year is only 2.6 percent, which is less than the education budgets of Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and India. (HEC) has requested Rs1.4 billion to enhance higher education in the country, according to Haq, but the current administration has not allocated the same amount. He appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to reinstate student unions.
