HED bans 27 colleges from offering BS (Hons) degrees
The Higher Education Department of Punjab has banned 27 surveyed colleges from offering BS (Hons) degree programs.
The decision on misconduct and shortage of facilities was taken in what is considered a significant measure to counter flaws in Pakistan's educational standards.

A group of private colleges that offered BS (Hons) courses were inspected by the inspection team, including the Directorate of Colleges (Lahore Division). Just two institutions meet the criteria according to the standards of higher education.
The Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) is the final authority that approves BS (Hons) degrees. The team directed 27 colleges to eliminate the underlying program after a thorough review and formulate a realistic proposal to meet the missed infrastructural needs.

The inspection team praised the private colleges qualifying for BS Honors degrees for meeting requirements in compliance with DPI guidelines.
