HEC Introduces Inter-University Essay Writing Competition

The Higher Education Commission, in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning Development & Special Initiatives, is holding an Inter-university Essay Writing Competition in Urdu and English to commemorate Pakistan's 75th Anniversary.

Using critical thinking, creativity, and productive engagement, the essay writing competition aims to sensitize Pakistani youth to analyze opportunities and challenges faced by the country.

This is an excellent opportunity for young writers to showcase their abilities and win national awards.

August 26th, 2022 is the deadline for submissions for the HEC Essay Writing Competition. Duplicate and incomplete entries will be disqualified.

Prize Money for the HEC Essay Writing Competition

First Prize: PKR: 500,000/-
2nd Position: PKR: 300,000/-
3rd Position: PKR: 200,000/-
4th to 10th Position: PKR: 100,000/-

Criteria for eligibility

The applicant must be a Pakistani/AJK citizen, a regular university student, and a maximum age of 25
Students can only submit an English or Urdu essay along with a completed Registration Form available on www.hec.gov.pk.
A good essay should have a word count of 2500-3000 words. It must be typed in Times New Roman size 12, line spacing 1.5, and converted to pdf. Typed Urdu essays must be converted to pdf files.
All entries are subject to rejection by the HEC without explanation. E-mail the essay along with the Registration Form and send hard copies via postal mail to the following address:
