Cambridge notifies the dates for O and A Level exams
The British Council on Thursday issued a notice by Cambridge International Examinations informing the date of exams for the May/June session, as O and A level students urge the government to ask for the delay as the coronavirus pandemic spikes in the country.
In the statement, Cambridge notified that it "understands the concerns surrounding Cambridge International Exams".
It said that while it is "committed to supporting Pakistani students", it must also follow by all guidelines and advices by the Government of Pakistan.
The British Council on Thursday shared a notice by Cambridge International Examinations notifying the date of exams for the May/June session, as O and A level students look to the government to push for a delay citing coronavirus fears.
Cambridge said that the government has confirmed that A and AS level exams will go ahead as per schedule, and will commence from April 26.
O level and IGCSE exams, however, will begin May 10.
According to Cambridge, the board, along with British Council, is in contact with the government and "continuously monitoring the developing situation in the country".
The notification was shared as the country battles an escalating third wave of the coronavirus, with cases as much as four thousand being reported in a day since last week.
According to reports, in the last 24 hours, 4,757 cases were reported all over the country, along with 78 deaths, taking the toll of infection to 667,957 so far and the death toll to 14,434.
Around 50,000 candidates will sit in the O Level/IGCSE and about 40,000 in AS/A Level exams from across Pakistan.
