The students of Allahabad University clash with security guards
An argument over admissions erupted last evening at Allahabad University in Uttar Pradesh between students and security personnel. Consequently, students threw stones at security guards, and a motorcycle was also set on fire.
Several people were injured in the attack, according to both sides. According to a police official, the situation is now under control, and the police are negotiating with the students.
Deputy Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma said that the students' complaints would be heard near the Student Union office.
According to reports, a student who has been protesting the university's fee hike for the past few months was denied entry to a bank on campus last evening by a guard.
There was an argument between the security guard and the student over this, and other students also got involved. Stones were pelted heavily during the fight.
A student named Ajay Yadav Samrat led the protest.
In protest of the fee increase last month, students surrounded Allahabad University Vice-Chancellor Sangeeta Srivastava after she left the office.
