Students from India are urged not to seek higher education in Pakistan
According to a public notification published on Friday by India's University Grants Commission, Indian citizens should avoid travelling to Pakistan to pursue higher education.
Any Indian native or foreign Indian citizen seeking admission in a Pakistani educational institute or degree programme would be ineligible for employment or higher study in India, according to the notice.
It did clarify, though, that migrants and their children who acquired further education in Pakistan would be eligible to work in India if they were granted citizenship and security clearance.
The current standoff between Pakistan and India dates back to February 26, 2019, when Indian jets crossed into Pakistani territory and dropped their payload near Balakot, bringing the two nuclear-armed nations on the verge of war.
Shehbaz Sharif, the newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan, wrote a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, urging him to address the Jammu and Kashmir conflict in the "interest of mutual peace and prosperity" for both India and Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz asked Modi to work together to keep the peace and advance the "development and prosperity of our people."
