Small data center launched by Pakistan School Education Department
Using the facility, the department will be able to store 140TB of data
The School Education Department in Lahore has inaugurated a new data center, Punjab province, Pakistan's capital.
CM Buzdar announced that the data center can store 140TB of data.
All schools will be able to integrate their data through the facility , Students, teachers, and administrators into one platform for better decision-making, It should result in a 60 percent drop in annual IT infrastructure spending.
School Education Department in Punjab region of Pakistan is responsible for formulating policies and maintaining educational standards.
"SED's data centre will integrate databases and applications of all attached departments, which had been operating in silos, thus providing evidence-based decision making, as well as data-centric implementation of ongoing reforms," the department tweeted.
Buzdar, speaking at the inauguration, said reforms are a priority for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, and attention is being paid to improving organizational quality, governance, and data access, as verified and updated data are essential for policy formulation. According to Unicef, Pakistan has 22.8 million children aged 5-16 out of school, the second-highest number in the world.
In Punjab, there are also significant gender disparities in education. For girls, the average number of school years was 4.291 years, while for boys it was 6.270 years.
